Introduction

CS Racing was founded by brothers Kevin and Scott Shields in 2011. They will tell you that their need for speed was genetically programmed by their father who was a Navy Fighter Pilot and Instructor. Through the years their competitive nature has taken them to the highest level of competition in everything they have done. Scott retired from the NFL after 6 seasons and 7 knee surgeries, but is still active in the NFL Players Association. Kevin was forced to give up a full athletic scholarship to Portland State University after his 3rd major shoulder injury ended his football career in 2006. These unforeseen circumstances left both of them with a strong desire for the competition and rush that they live for.

Scott and Kevin began going to the desert and getting involved in off-road late in 2005 when they participated in their first Baja 1000 as crew members for the Vildosola Racing Team. Since then they have participated in every race and had been running all of Vildosola’s pits until 2014 when Vildosola teamed up with Galindo Motorsports and driver Steven Eugenio for their rookie season in Trophy Truck. They helped Galindo Motorsport’s win the 2014 SCORE World Championship their first season and continued to run the pits and logistics for Galindo Motorsports in 2015.

In July 2011, they competed in their first race at the CODE Jacume Grand Prix and finished with an impressive fourth overall in the Unlimited class while racing their pre-runner. They have continued to compete in several other races since then in both of their vehicles as well as class 1600 and 1850 vehicles. They have since decided to proceed full bore with their racing efforts and built a Class One Truggy/Trophy Truck that they started racing in 2015.

The Class 1 Truggy was debuted during the 2015 race season, and CS Racing kicked it off to a great start with a 1st and 2nd place finish in two of the four races. They were in 2nd place and doing great in the other two races until small mechanical failures knocked them out of the race. They finished the 2015 race season with the SNORE Rage at the River. This race had the largest amount of entries in any race series for the entire 2015 race season. The field for Class 1’s was stacked with 28 of the best Class 1 drivers in the industry. CS Racing put their name on the map and turned some heads by being on the podium with a 3rd place finish.

The goal for 2016 was to select a few races in each of the series to gain more experience and see which series offered the best competition, as well as exposure for the team and its sponsors. After a few top 5 finishes they decided to use the remainder of the season to upgrade the power plant for the 2017 season.

CS Racing planned to race the entire 2017 BITD series. The season started off great at Parker with the truggy moving from 22nd due to a mechanical issue in qualifying to 5th physically and 3rd on corrected time by the main pit. Unfortunately the truggy suffered a fuel system issue putting the truggy down 2 hours and out of contention for a podium. CS Racing also saw success at both the Mint 400 and Vegas to Reno before being stopped by an unexpected engine failure. In the Laughlin Duel at the Desert, CS Racing finished with a top 5 performance.

We finished the 2017 Best in the Desert season in the top 5 in points in the competitive 1500 class. We spent the 2018 season building our new Alumicraft Trophy Truck Spec that will be debuted at the 2019 Best in the Desert Parker 425. We will race the entire Best in the Desert season and a select few of the SCORE races as well.
